Awards for Professional Educators
The mission of ASTEF is
- to provide funding for activities that support professional and personal growth of women educators in Texas
- to promote educational excellence for Texas students
ASTEF manages three funds: Scholarship, Leadership, and Projects.
- Scholarship - funds scholarships and lifelong learning opportunities.
- Leadership - provides leadership training through Leadership Seminars and sponsored speakers.
- Projects - provides stipends for chapter projects and supports other educational endeavors that benefit Texas students and educators.
In the three years since its inception, ASTEF has awarded almost $16,000 in project stipends for 27 chapter projects such as Books for Babies, Supporting Early-Career Educators, and Women STEM-ulate Career Fair.
The DKGIEF provides assistance for participation in professional development activities.
Individual Awards
Lucile Cornetet Individual Awards assist educators in their participation in professional development opportunities. Grants are awarded to employed educators, both Delta Kappa Gamma members and non-members. Educators may attend workshops, seminars, lecture series, courses or conferences. The application process is competitive. Application deadlines for Individual Awards are February 1, May 1 and September 1 depending on date of activity.
Project Grants
These grants of money are given to individuals and groups for the purpose of conducting projects to benefit children and education. Any project leader may apply - you do not need to be a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Since its inception the Educational Foundation has awarded project grants totaling over four million dollars from funds contributed by The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, chapters, members, and friends.
